Wow! And just when I thought we’d get some rather character driven arc, with everyone trying to figure out Ange, this show throws that to the wind and decides to FLEX!

Ah! Summer season is gearing up! And what better way to start up than with something comfortable and reliable? I missed you Majestic Prince. Even if only for the span of a week. I missed your steadying, quality production. Now let’s get started. I’m anxious to see where the next three months of anime takes us.

Majestic Prince ep12: milk and honey makes friendships sticky and sweet

Well that was a nice fun romp. I was honestly worried that this was going to turn into mindless filler episode (though I’m not sure the word filler applies here). But episode twelve actually succeeded at being an interesting and entertaining source of character development.

Majestic Prince ep11: life isn’t all pretty boys and penises.

With an enemy ship now crashed on Mars, the Fail Five is now tasked with a mission of great importance. A mission that requires stealth, and precision and timing, so you know somehow this mission is gonna go totally to sh*t, right?

Majestic Prince ep10: the most amusing of prey

So, I was only kinda right in my guesses from last week.  It seems very likely that this signals the end of stage one of this series.  As all the necessary introductions have now been made, rivalries have been set, and some of the initial ignorance has been swept away.  This series is now firmly hurtling towards stage two, an invigorated attempt at intimacy with various parts of the story and cast.

Majestic Prince ep9: closer than you thought, not as close as you’d like

Well, with the battle over and a good chunk of the GDF likely murdered or mangled in space, everyone is left to reflect on the situation. I for one am going to say that as I reflect on it, I’m disappointed at how the aliens just said, “OK, we’re done here.” And they just packed up shop. Aside from the stone wall that Team Doberman and Team Rabbits put up, the rest of the opposition was warm butter in their hands. I can’t help but think this was a little lazy of the creative team, but I won’t fully know for sure until the next episode. This episode is what’s important.

Gargantia ep8: fools, or people with a dream?

I have accused several shows this season of not being engaging experiences.  Gargantia isn’t necessarily one of them, but I certainly found it to be lacking in the conflict department, as I thought the early part of this show was more of a series of misunderstandings and poor communication that fueled the drama. But this episode is giving us clear change in direction and tone. The cast is breaking up, there’s new leadership, and there’s the possibility of some very influential characters opening Pandora’s Box. This is Gargantia, and it’s going to a dark place.

Majestic Prince ep8: blade mode!

Ah yeah! Just when I’d opened my mouth and called this show slightly average, it shows me an amazing space battle. It’s high time this show shoved aside all that character development and moral lesson crap and just threw punches! Let’s go!

Gargantia ep7: short on forgiveness, short on words.

I find a lack of communication one of my key pet peeves.  It’s such an annoyance to me, that I’m surprised more people don’t ask why I bother watching anime.  So much of the medium relies on terrible communication to form its concepts, draw out its storytelling and fuel its romance. So if you’ve already watched this episode of Gargantia, you can guess what I’m annoyed by.  But I’m going to be fair, unlike before I’m not going to wag my finger just at the hippies.  There’s plenty of blame, shortsightedness and stupidity to go around.

Majestic Prince ep7: instincts for coitus and conquest

I was wondering when this show was gonna throw a big battle at us again.  It really is sticking pretty well to the Gundam formula, too.  The real question for Majestic Prince as a show will be whether it can distinguish itself from that formula.  Valvrave has already done so in it’s own unique way.  Oh yeah, and space sex. Alien space sex. It’s not as gross as it sounds, I promise.
