Check-in Station Dark Edition: Issue #5 (just wear pants, you bloody idiots!)
I didn’t think I’d go well into Fall before I got back around to this material. Just goes to show times are hard and life is rough. If a man can’t find time out of his day for a little pervy manga and anime, then he’s forced to live a very shallow, base life – devoid of true happiness or fulfillment. Thankfully, I made some time to relax and wade through some truly thoughtless and silly material. I’ve changed things up a bit again. Starting with something very light and silly, and then going into some truly sketchy material. And as always, even the silliest shows can pull some nice thoughtful moments. As My Lovely Ghost Kana and Recently, My Sister is Unusual both manage to give me some moments that made me think.
Here are the entries I’ll be covering this week in order:
- Chrysanthemum Garden ch0
- Cutie Lips ch1
- Nana to Kaoru ch70
- Hana to Hoshi ch2
- Yuria 100 Shiki ch58
- My Lovely Ghost Kana ch19
- Happy Negative Marriage ch6
- Liar’s Paradox ch4
- Recently, My Sister is Unusual ep3
Watamote ep4: awkward erotic asphyxiation
I’ve read a lot of interesting articles, but it’s rare that I put them into practice. Also, I’ve usually taken as personal advice, that you shouldn’t immediately try out things that you’re told about early in the morning. Your brain isn’t working at full capacity, and usually when you hear or read about stuff that early, you’re also either drunk or a little bit high. But this doesn’t stop Tomoko Read more…
Monogatari S2 ep4: wrath, lust, jealousy; wise to your own ignorance
With a new day dawning, it’s naturally Hanekawa who greets us as the episode starts. She’s quite aware that something isn’t right anymore when she wakes from her sleeps. And she’s also quite used to seeing the signs of Black Hanekawa’s arrivals. Though the clues are there clear enough now, they’re different clues compared to the ones she’s seen before. The rules are different, the circumstances are different. Read more…
Monogatari S2 ep3: two sides of the same apparition
So. I guess the normal rules of Monogatari don’t apply anymore? From the beginning this series has been more “weird” than normal. Not to say anything in Monogatari universe is normal to begin with. Any normal in it has been a matter of perspective. Read more…
Monogatari S2 ep2: what makes you tick? Or do you tick just because?
Interesting how this episode used the maximum amount of wordage to get its point across. Though it still adds enough flavoring to make it palatable, to me at least. Read more…
Check-in Station: Monogatari Season 2 ep1 (my spirit animal is actually a spirit animal!)
Senjougahara! Welcome back! Hanekawa! Welcome back! Even you Mayoi! Welcome back! Araragi- Araragi? Araragi? Hey! Where the hell is the main character?! We’re starting a series here! Read more…
Senran Kagura ep1: shimapan to the face!
There’s no end to the ways something can be interpreted, sometimes to the point of being unrecognizable. Whether that be the concept of ninjas, of mahou shoujo, sexual assault or even a bad show. Senran Kagura lends itself towards being any and all of these things. Though I’ll also add that fun to the list. This appears to be a bad, but fun show. And I think that it makes it interesting enough to watch.
OK, this is a pervy anime through and through. An utterly ridiculous, bouncy, pervy anime full of cute girls doing stuff that makes them spread their legs and jiggle. Now I’m not gonna be a complete hypocrite and say I’m appalled by this in any sense. I did used to have a recurring Pervy Images of the Week blog post thingy that I did for awhile (and thanks to this show it may be coming back). I just want to make it absolutely clear to anyone considering watching this show. Read my words, and take a good look at the pics I use in this post. If you don’t like seeing lady parts, and the unmentionables the “ladies” use to cover them, then you won’t be having a lot of fun watching this. This is not Naruto! Read more…
Vividred Operation ep1: I literally hope this shows runs out of a budget.
My head hurts. I don’t even know why I’m diving into so many new anime this season. Especially when, like most any anime fan whose been watching shows for more than a year, for every show that comes out, there’s generally four or five in my backlog in that same genre that I should’ve watched first. Vividred Operation looks like an interesting little project. But the first episode didn’t prove that. It just showed me the near limits of what I’m willing to put up with in order to learn about a new anime. Read more…
DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: August 1st (It’s all about 7’s & bathhouses.)
Hello everybody! I’ve taken time out of watching women’s gymnastics (don’t ask), women’s volleyball (don’t ask), women’s swimming (don’t ask), and men’s basketball and the Olympics in general to bring back my “images of the week” posts. Since I came back from my hiatus, I’ve had trouble figuring things out. The straight forward part was catching up and finishing shows I was engaged with before I disappeared. I’m generally caught up with Fairy Tail and Gundam AGE. I’ve finished Symphogear (damn fun). And the showmen manga scene doesn’t move very briskly, so I’ve had no trouble keeping up there.
The real trouble comes with the new stuff, and the blog itself. Before I disappeared I had a plan, but right now it’s not so clear. I’ve made my attempts at episodic blogging. And while I enjoyed talking about certain shows up until a point, it’s very hard for me to push out thoughts that aren’t more than moldy unique from what I’ve said the week before on a series (Mouretsu Space Pirates, I blame you). And I. Definitely not the type to push out an editorial post twice a week. So for now, please bear with me as I figure things out. Right now, these special “images of the week” posts are the most comfortable and unique things I can push out. “Viva la Pervy Images of the Week!” Read more…
DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: March 23rd (Because after Dark Souls I need something to make me feel better.)
Off my ass again to do another images of the week post. My excuse for the delay this time? Mass Effect 3 and getting my curb stomped by Dark Souls over and over… and over …and over again. Don’t get me wrong, I’m making progress, but you can’t play that game without suffering, despair… and a healthy dose of spontaneously cursing because you screwed up, or the game screw you. So when all is lost, I completely shut down the PS3 & boot up the anime. Games nowadays have a way of telling you you’ve been playing for too long. They tell you you need to stop and get out of the house. You don’t need that with Dark Souls. Granted you haven’t spiked your controller, you’ll walk away on your own, eventually. But enough about that. Anime and manga, that’s all I’m concerned about right now. Here are my usual, but hardly consistently weekly anymore, images of the week! Read more…
