DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: April 12th (the Abbrev. Ed.)
What? Don’t look at me like that. I’ve been busy. Regardless, it’s been a fun if not very productive week. I got to finish two series that have been running for 2 seasons and I got some surprising results from that. I’m slowly dipping my toes into the new season, though I’m careful not to overlook the massive backlog I now have following me. I’m looking forward and backward this week and for this post. DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: March 27th (My blog’s not dead, it’s napping!)
I’ve fielded quite a few questions on and off Twitter as to whether the status of my blog would be best conveyed through an obituary. Rest assured good readers that it is no more than a strange combination of bad timing, fatigue and work. And to prove it I’m coming back strong with more anime, manga & perviness than ever. But before I start I’d like to give my heartfelt condolences out to the people and Japan who are still enduring after the horrible disasters of earthquake, tsunami and a possible nuclear meltdown. I suggest anyone reading this find your nearest, reputable charity and put some effort into helping those people. I used Red Cross, you can use whatever you like. Every bit helps.
It feels a little awkward mentioning such a serious subject on my goofy little blog, but even a curmudgeon like me doesn’t mind helping this cause. Read more…
DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: February 14th (Boobs don’t work that way!)
I’m back, and even though I had to take off the previous week for various reasons (corrupted flashdrive again, I swear I’ve learned my lesson this time) and I’m a day late on this post, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy on the anime or manga front. So while you’ve been compiling a list of your favorite romantic moments on your blog, or setting up a romantic candle-lit dinner for your dakimakura, I’ve been hard at work. Let’s get to it. And hopefully after this you can all leave the house/apartment/basement/stuffy dorm and meet someone in the real world. Read more…
DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: January 30th (Giant Mermaid Win-ness)
It’s almost February and I think I’m getting a bit of cabin fever and the winter “BLAHS”. Couple that with me still being in Madoka Magica mourning, and you’ll see why I’m a bit less than peppy (insert barrel roll joke). Don’t get me wrong, the anime and manga coming out week to week is excellent. I just need a splash of sunlight and a good vacation. Regardless, my mood didn’t affect my enjoyment of the excellent manga and anime I watched this week. Read more…
Check-out Station: Farewell Fall 2010 season! (I stayed a bit too long.)
Fall 2010 of the anime season was the first (and probably only) season of material I tried to follow almost completely as it aired. Some may call it ambitious, I call it a f*cking chore (sorry, I watched Zero Punctuation before writing this so I may be a little “snarky” i.e. a bitch!). But regardless I had a lot of fun, watched plenty of quality anime, and some horrid ones as well. And normally I do goodbye post for every series I complete. And normally I’d have time to do that. But, and let me count, ….. ELEVEN anime means nearly eleven posts (obviously several are still ongoing) and I just don’t have the time. Not to mention the then ongoing series that completed at or near the end of the season. So I decided to roll everything up into one fat, American mega post and give a mini-Check-out for each and every one of these series. Here we go! Read more…
DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: January 23rd (The loli LOL’s at your shenanigans!)
Another mildly productive week of anime watching. This week was rather interesting though. I got a good amount of variety in here. Though I feel once again I have failed to provide enough pervy. I’ll let anyone visiting be the judge of how good or bad that is. For now, let’s get straight into it. Read more…
DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: December 5th (Big and Black; Long and Hard)
And by that title I mean it has been a long and hard week of watching anime. Lots of crying (from the characters in shows, not me), and panting, and beating, and farewells. Everything I watched and read seemed to be really intense and trying its best, with very few failures. The only real failure of mine was not watching OreImo. I just couldn’t do it. As much as I enjoy the supporting (and in this case I mean that quite literally) characters, Kirino sucks most any enthusiasm I have for the show right out of me. I just can’t seem to bring myself to sit down and deal with her. With that out of the way, time to move to the week in Japanese illustrated NERD. Read more…
Check-in Station: Star Driver eps 1-5 (Elegant, not Fabulous)
I’ve been hungry for a good new mecha anime. Call me spoiled after the glut of great mecha we had during the past decade, or even the past few years. Gundam 00, Code Geass, Macross Frontier just to name some excellent examples. But with heavy focus being put on OVA and movie projects from the big studios, I’ve been somewhat left in the cold recently when it comes to a good recurring series. Gundam Unicorn is spectacular, but with their release schedule it’s not nearly enough to satisfy the rabid mecha fan within me. So what am I to do? Well, it looks like Studio BONES wants my attention because the next big mecha anime appears to be Star Driver. Read more…
