KILL LA KILL ep15: it’s the asspocalypse! Run for your lives!!!

This episode was so good this week! *squeals!* Not only are we subjected to glowing nipples, epic displays of guts and GAR, and shown close to twenty minutes of non-stop chaos, but I finally get to see Nudist Beach pop up in earnest. And man, do they have some stupid, ugly mech designs. It’s absolutely hilarious!

KILL LA KILL ep14: make money, not war!

I gotta say, KILL LA KILL makes war look GOOD! As exciting as this episodes was, it was just as funny to see all these puns, sight gags and stereotypes put to use. And all this is going on right in the middle of cities. Truly there’s no such thing as a strong federal government in the world of this show. The only thing more unstoppable than this chaos is Ryuuko’s desire to piece Senketsu back together. And the only thing more unstoppable than that is Mako’s desire to shove giant octopus balls in her face!

KILL LA KILL ep13: the romance and murder of cloth

Alright! It’s back! KILL LA KILL is back! And I’m not going to waste a moment getting into it!

Despite anyone’s personal feelings, the world moves on. Ryuuko’s disasterous battle with Nui Harime has scarred her badly and she’s fully placed herself on the sidelines. While she sulks, Lady Satsuki has put Honnouji Academy into full war mode. It’s a military build up that would make any true American proud and tear up with pride.

KILL LA KILL ep12: your father was a dirtbag ninja, your rival is a dirtbag samurai, your nemesis is a dirtbag lolita, and your friend comes from a dirtbag family

How do I even encompass in words the groundswell of emotion that I was feeling watching this episode? It was equal parts hype and exposition, a battle of ideals and monsters. And even with all that was revealed, the most enticing part is what this episode foretells for the future.

KILL LA KILL ep11: oh no! It’s a loli!

Ryuuko’s fight with Nonon continues in this episode, and here we see that she seems to truly be mastering Senketsu’s use. She defeats Nonon not once, but twice, and using the same technique more or less. The first part of the fight was resolved when she was able to use Senketsu’s Gale form to outmaneuver Nonon, and send one of her recorder missiles back at her. With Nonon grounded, everyone assumed the little tart wouldn’t be able to continue, but instead the

KILL LA KILL ep10: Prince Know-it-All & Princess Death-from-Above

You know I was about to say that this was the most disappointing episode of the series so far for me, but I jumped the gun a bit. This definitely a transitional episode with much more insanity waiting. And to say that I’m disappointed is to show how spoiled I’ve become by the previous episodes.  Gifted with the exquisite violence and perviness, there’s nothing more you could ask from this show. It’s doing its damnedest to entertain.  I really shouldn’t be complaining when I can experience the joy of watching high schoolers fight to death for love, revenge and the right to wear fancy swagalious uniforms.  Try finding that on Netflix!

KILL LA KILL ep9: the Double Standard of Stripper Gear versus Gimp Suits

The grandest of displays of resolve can turn into mere arrogance at the drop of a hat. That I suppose is the lesson to be learned from this episode. Though regardless of the results, I will say I’m impressed by the sheer will of a man to take such punishment on willingly. I just wish he’d keep that kinkiness to his own private bedroom.

KILL LA KILL eps 7 & 8: you’ll never be satisfied with mere victory and happiness.

My deepest apologies for the hold up.  Even one week without anime is too long.  And I’m not wasting any time getting back in the saddle and catching up.  And there’s no better show out right now to motivate me and imbue me with the energy to watch a “butt-ton” of anime than KILL LA KILL.  Let’s do this!

KILL LA KILL ep6: the beauty of defeat and the ugliness of shame

That was a fun and beautiful episode, and somewhat ridiculous. But it’s all very fitting for this show. A show that revels in being as over the top and beautiful as it can possibly be. And what I love most about this is that it’s just showing that we’ve only scratched the surface of what is capable of presenting. Nothing is wasted in this show, in the pursuit of beauty.  The beauty of a man’s goals, dreams and drive.  And I suppose beauty can also mean dudes getting naked and sweaty for the ladies.  Hey, I said this episode was fun and beautiful.  I never mentioned classy.

There’s no doubt that KILL LA KILL is Ryuuko Matoi’s anime. She’s the star, the focus, the gravity that holds this show together. Without her, I couldn’t imagine how this story progresses.  But every now and then you get a character or performance that can totally and utterly overshadow the star. In anime terms, you could think of such characters as Kamiya (TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN), Sesshoumaru (InuYasha), Kenpachi (Bleach), L (Death Note) and so on. Uzu Sanageyama’s performance doesn’t necessarily reach those levels, and he’s only shined for this one episode, but it’s one hell of an episode!

KILL LA KILL ep5: Nudists vs. Exhibitionists!

Something interesting came to mind when watching this episode.  How does it strike a female viewer or the character in a show when a guy tells you to disrobe “for your own good”?  Maybe it’s the crazy, hyper-sensitive atmosphere of America and its politics that has me thinking this way.  But I can only imagine what kind of firestorm some of these scenes would cause if exposed to the wrong people.  That said, I’m glad none of those idiots are watching this show right now!  Ha ha!  So screw them and their tiny brains!  I’m here to watch some damn good anime!
