Don KangolJones’ Images of the Week: August 8th (Much love for Muv-Luv)

I enjoy a good mecha production as much as the next Gundam loving, Eva worshipping, Gurren-Lagann inspired guy. So when someone like me gets to enjoy 4 currently airing mecha or mecha inspired series, as well as some good old school Macross, I will say that I’m greatly aware and a time like this awed at the diversity and quantity that is at my disposal. And yet I still have the nerve to pick up a mahou shoujo and read pervy manga. I guess I’ll never be truly satisfied.

I’ve fielded quite a few questions on and off Twitter as to whether the status of my blog would be best conveyed through an obituary.  Rest assured good readers that it is no more than a strange combination of bad timing, fatigue and work.  And to prove it I’m coming back strong with more anime, manga & perviness than ever.  But before I start I’d like to give my heartfelt condolences out to the people and Japan who are still enduring after the horrible disasters of earthquake, tsunami and a possible nuclear meltdown.  I suggest anyone reading this find your nearest, reputable charity and put some effort into helping those people.  I used Red Cross, you can use whatever you like.  Every bit helps.

It feels a little awkward mentioning such a serious subject on my goofy little blog, but even a curmudgeon like me doesn’t mind helping this cause.

I’m back, and even though I had to take off the previous week for various reasons (corrupted flashdrive again, I swear I’ve learned my lesson this time) and I’m a day late on this post, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy on the anime or manga front. So while you’ve been compiling a list of your favorite romantic moments on your blog, or setting up a romantic candle-lit dinner for your dakimakura, I’ve been hard at work. Let’s get to it. And hopefully after this you can all leave the house/apartment/basement/stuffy dorm and meet someone in the real world.

It’s almost February and I think I’m getting a bit of cabin fever and the winter “BLAHS”.  Couple that with me still being in Madoka Magica mourning, and you’ll see why I’m a bit less than peppy (insert barrel roll joke).  Don’t get me wrong, the anime and manga coming out week to week is excellent.  I just need a splash of sunlight and a good vacation.  Regardless, my mood didn’t affect my enjoyment of the excellent manga and anime I watched this week.

End of Year Special: The Best pt3 (Anime Series of the Year)

It’s getting well into January and I realized that I couldn’t drag things out bit by bit until February roared around and decided to streamline my end of year awards.  Let me just say that if your show didn’t make it more than likely I just didn’t get around to seeing it… or I hated it.  And that being said, this can’t be called definitive in any way.  Like all my blog entries I’m really just archiving my thoughts and experiences to look back on at a later time.  Regardless, here’s what I most enjoyed about 2010 in delicious All-American list form.

October was a rough month.  Everything I had planned was completely effed up.  Jury duty, meetings at work, tutoring my kids, having my flash drive get corrupted and lose all my unbacked up material on it.  I didn’t have an easy time finding time to write or even round up material.  And what happens when I finally get around to viewing the much anticipated new fall anime?  I’m bombarded with incest anime, pseudo or otherwise.  What the hell man?  Ore no Imouto mocks and teases it, Yosuga no Sora damn near promises it, and Aki Sora practically wallows in it like a fat sow.  When the hell did this make such a comeback?  Oh well, let’s move on.

DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: It’s so much easier for girls (Sept 12th)

A pattern has been revealed to me.  Lately two shows have been fighting for my attention.  One is obviously K-ON!!, which consistently is pulling my heartstrings, getting cuter and more emotional by the week.  I didn’t think that could even be possible.  The other is the dubious, infamous, ludicrous Highschool of the Dead.  Which is making a habit of starting a new meme and sending anime fans into a murderous, rabid frenzy with each episode.  Thank you God, that K-ON!! won out this week.  Even a declaration of wetness couldn’t stop the juggernaut that is HTT.

What a fun episode! For awhile it looked liked we were going to get an all fun and games episode of the famous Fairy Tail fraternity faffing about. Which is fine by me, a contest with the hotties from Fairy Tail couldn’t be a bad idea to me in any circumstance. *fawns* Erza grabbed that gothic loli outfit and I died.
