AniFriday Issue #15 (May 23rd, 2014): Victory Through Anti-Hype

I dare say that I’m almost getting back on schedule.  I may be two days late posting this (killing my thought out defense that it’s Friday somewhere when I post these), but at least I’m almost regularly watching anime and reading manga now.  I’m still in the process of figuring out where I’m at in regards to the current anime world though.  In the process of doing this, I’ve tried taking up a little show called Captain Earth.  Let’s see how this goes, because I’m not exactly in the mood for a super robot show right now. So here we go!  My list of who I think are the five hottest women in anime.  Yes, I realize ahead of time that this likely will have some huge omissions for some of you.  But this is my damn list!  And my damn choices, tastes and rules!  If you have a problem with it, then send me a comment and tell me who I missed or who you’d prefer.  Or write your own damn blog post and send me a link.  Because from here, to the end of this blog post, it’s nothing but eye candy!  So shut up, and soak in the sexy!

DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: August 1st (It’s all about 7’s & bathhouses.)

Hello everybody! I’ve taken time out of watching women’s gymnastics (don’t ask), women’s volleyball (don’t ask), women’s swimming (don’t ask), and men’s basketball and the Olympics in general to bring back my “images of the week” posts. Since I came back from my hiatus, I’ve had trouble figuring things out. The straight forward part was catching up and finishing shows I was engaged with before I disappeared. I’m generally caught up with Fairy Tail and Gundam AGE. I’ve finished Symphogear (damn fun). And the showmen manga scene doesn’t move very briskly, so I’ve had no trouble keeping up there.

The real trouble comes with the new stuff, and the blog itself. Before I disappeared I had a plan, but right now it’s not so clear. I’ve made my attempts at episodic blogging. And while I enjoyed talking about certain shows up until a point, it’s very hard for me to push out thoughts that aren’t more than moldy unique from what I’ve said the week before on a series (Mouretsu Space Pirates, I blame you). And I. Definitely not the type to push out an editorial post twice a week. So for now, please bear with me as I figure things out. Right now, these special “images of the week” posts are the most comfortable and unique things I can push out. “Viva la Pervy Images of the Week!” Read more…

DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: Jan. 9th (The courage to use my best friend as a bottle opener.)

January 9, 2012 4 comments

I suppose everyone who has made resolutions for 2012 are well into enacting/ suffering through their choices. One of mine is to more consistently tend to my blog, which was woefully neglected for too much of 2011. And the Winter 2012 season is making this task quite easy. Not only am I finding interesting new series to delve into, but what I already have on my plate is good to outstanding. And despite the fact that much of my Shounen JUMP material is on vacation, I had no trouble finding interesting manga to read either. It’s a good start, to what is so far a good year. Let’s get started! Read more…

DonKangolJones’ Images of the Week: Jan. 2nd (Happy New Year! …now put your pants back on.)

It’s amazing how some people choose to spend their first day of a new year.  Some spend it in church.  That’s understandable.  Not my way mostly, but it’s still fine.  I’ve had enough of midnight mass or church, it just feels weird to me.  I’ll save my fellowship for daytime.  *ahem!*  The rant has ended.  Then there are those people that choose to spend it with family, a personal favorite of mine.  You can drink whatever you want with people who probably won’t rob you when you’ve passed out on the floor… or in the bathtub.  Don’t ask.  And you never have to worry about how you’re getting home with a BAC (blood alcohol content) that could very well be a Major League baseball player’s batting average, while avoiding police checkpoints.

Then there are who have to spend that time; the very waxing hours of the morning, the day, the year, at work.  And depending on the profession, you have to spend that time with the a-holes who seem to choose to spend their first hours of 2012 in the hospital or jail.  You morons make me sick and are the reason why I prefer to spend my waxing hours doing what I did, watching anime.  The holiday vacation time is a good time to catch up on many things.  I’m happy to say I caught up or started some nice material, and unlike the post I had there’s a much greater variety.  So for those of you who, like me, enjoy all things anime,  here are my anime, manga and pervy (hooray) images of the week. Final Anime Images of the Year: December 26th (It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon.)

December 26, 2011 2 comments

It’s finally time for one of those delicious year end posts.  Though in my case, it doesn’t really end much.  This has been a lean year, relatively speaking.  But that’s because I’ve had a change in responsibilities, just a bit.    Not to mention that I’m just now finally mastering how to watch, capture and blog anime from a tablet.  Why I have to do this I’d rather keep a bit private.  I’ll just say that tapping into a PC isn’t always possible or reliable.  Some times you gotta do your blogging on the fly,  like spec ops or something.

What did I do with this new found mastering of the portable arts?   Read more…

Anime Episodes of the Year: Fairy Tail ep58 (that’s right, FAIRY TAIL!)

December 31, 2010 Leave a comment

Nice and tight.  That’s what this episode is.  Most of the time, even the best shounen episodes can seem watered down and slow.  Scenes stretched out for long periods, silly filler thrown in that can often feel tedious and out of place; so this episode felt like a welcome reminder that things can be done without cutting corners or screwing around.  The fifty eighth episode of Fairy Tail was a fine example of the show being itself at its best. This week’s Images of the Week (SissKiss, Love Devils and Angel Frog Pandering)

June 17, 2010 2 comments

This was a pretty good week for anime when it came to action.   Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Katanagatari and Shippuuden are all impressing right now.   Angel Beats is a hot confused mess right now, but it still keeps me interested. Read more…
