Golden Time ep6: this is all happening so fast!

The difference between real feelings and forced feelings couldn’t be starker in this episode.  Also, I couldn’t be happier to witness the death of the “friendzone” in this episode.  Take note guys, the “friendzone” isn’t a wall you climb over – it’s something you bust through!  And you do it with the guts of a man!  A real man! Golden Time ep5: ghosts and prisons

Well, things are off to a fine start this episode. After the revelation that Banri has known Linda since high school, he rushes to the bridge to see if it can jog any of his memories, but that fails. And when Mitsuo calls him, he starts crying.

Golden Time ep4: heart to heart, or knife to heart?

You can warn and warn people all you want, but you can’t break someone’s reality easily. They have to accept it as a lie, through some sort of hard evidence. And even then, there’s a risk of relapse at the slightly provocation. In this episode, it’s time for Koko to come to grips with a hard fact. Mitsuo doesn’t love her. He doesn’t even like her. So this is the episode where Banri and Koko go on their club trip together. Man, what is up with these college clubs? Why the hell do they all seem so desperate and aggressive? As soon as they show up to pick everyone up, they’re shoved into vans and sent on their way. At least with 2D-kun (from the Tea Club’s crazy party) also there, the two of them have someone else to talk to.  Though I’m sure this will just be one of those episodes where they have fun, see a bear and talk about their pasts.  Nothing too bad right? Golden Time ep2: beware the drunk bimbos!

When I first started watching this episode, the question I had in my head was whether Koko was lonely, or willfully alone.  Though to my thankful surprise, that question is completely answered by the end of this episode.  What I’m finding are characters with layers and personalities, and aside from Koko, they’re rather subtle ones, too.  Though in the case of Koko again, I’m left with a new question, is she just selfish or incredibly idealistic? Check-in Station: Golden Time ep1 (I want to fall in love – with this show)

My first impressions during the first few minutes of this show was that it felt really good to see anime characters with problems I could more relate to. Problems like living on your own and finding your way around a city or college for the first time, and just trying to find a comfortable spot to fit in at with other people.  My further impressions of the show are that this could potentially be the show I enjoy watching the most.  Yeah, I’m kind of high on this show right now.
