Flowers of Evil ep5: refreshing? Not so much.

Nakamura and I have something in common.  No, it’s not that we’re both obsessed with deviant behaviour and cross-dressing.  It’s because we’re both waiting to see something we know it’s there, we’re just having the damnedest time trying to see it.  Flowers of Evil, I was told was a depraved, dark story with a twist that would turn the stomachs of viewers, acting as almost a barrier of entry to enjoyment in the show.  And I’m sorry, but I’ve yet to see it.  This is veering dangerously close to a romantic comedy.  A dark romantic comedy, but still something that I find less than intimidating or thought provoking.  I was promised the depraved story akin to Sundome, but I’m getting more of a kinky episodic good time akin to Nana to Kaoru.  Please episode 5, liberate me from this misconception!  Show me I’m wrong! Flowers of Evil ep4: I can’t think of a better way to spend your afternoon.

Flowers of Evil ep2: where’s my masturbations?

People love to get hyped over the little things. One bozo disagreeing with their opinion of a show, or music or abortion and all logic and civility can fly out the window. The same can be said for sheltered people. People that haven’t been exposed to the most basic knowledge about their bodies, the bodies of the opposite sex or about sex and relationships in general can really start to romanticize and worship a connection they don’t really understand. I’m starting to believe that’s the point of Flowers of Evil. It’s here to show how twisted our ideas about the world can become once we obsess and romanticize them.  A little knowledge and good advice can go a very long way. Read more…

Check-in Station: Flowers of Evil ep1

I have heard A LOT about this show. Even before the episode released the Internet was swimming with debate and impressions of the series. I’m just glad it’s finally started so we can see if this series is capable of being a legend or a dud. And honestly, this show is off to a slow, but interesting start. Read more…
